How to make a Ferro cement Moa Bird
Making a Ferro Cement Moa.

Starting the legs

Making a Ferro Cement Moa.

The same principles apply to most ferro cement sculptures.

First of all do some research via books museums etc

Get the measurements right before you start.

Purchase some steel rods strong enough to support vandals.

Draw a plan on some large building paper.

Start welding a frame, using  bracing built into the construction.

Make the steel follow the path of the main bones so that the finished sculpture looks real.

Put some ribs in where they would be in the real bird or animal

If you intend to galvanise the frame before applying ferro cement, use a mig welder, as it does not leave slag.
